I completed my professional presentation at the Berkeley County School District (BCSD) Innovation Summit in September of 2022 and 2023. The Innovation Summits were held in North Charleston, SC. My presentation was used for both sessions were I overall presented a total of four times. The purpose of my presentation was to educate teachers within BCSD on how to create interactive agendas and course cards within Schoology using Canva.

Some valuable lessons I learned from presenting at the Innovation Summits are that each group is going to learn at a different pace. In one presentation, none of the teachers had ever used Canva or had yet to create a Schoology account. Due to that, I had to spend time teaching them basic Canva functions and how to get into Schoology before I could have them do the agendas or course cards. Another lesson I learned is that it is okay if not enough time is given. By allowing them to my access and creating a great tutorial, teachers were able to still learn how to create the course cards and agendas by pulling my slideshow back up and going step-by-step. Due to that, comes my next valuable lesson – making sure my written content on the slides makes sense and is in logical order so that teachers can correctly implement the tutorial without me being there coaching them along the way. Lastly, that teachers are interested in learning and WANT to learn! So many teachers were excited to see that Schoology had this capability and that they could personalize their Schoology’s with these interactive agendas.
