Treatment Report

Powered By EmbedPress

Context & Conditions

This Treatment Report was created during EDET 793: Advanced Instructional Design and Development. This course was completed in the second to last semester of my Learning Design and Technologies master’s program. This Treatment Report is a section of an Instructional Design Document. Prior to this Treatment Report a goal, learner, contextual and task analysis were all performed. Performance-based objectives, assessment items, and an instructional strategy plan were also created prior to the treatment report. Following this treatment report, a formative evaluation was conducted along with an eLearning product.

The Treatment Report goes on to explain the descriptions and rationales for designing the eLearning product. This section will go over the reasoning for the product, the target audience and what the product will all include. Information for what software and how students can access the product will also be included. The Treatment Report will then showcase two planning documents including a style guide for which fonts and colors to utilize when designing the product and a storyboard of how the slides in the eLearning product should be designed and formatted.

Scope

The purpose of the Treatment Report is to be able to provide documentation to clients and to the design team to show how the content and instructional strategies will be inputted into the eLearning product. For this class, I was also the designer of the eLearning product.

Role

This Treatment Report was designed and developed independently by me. My instructor reviewed and provided feedback on the Instructional Design Document for me to make revisions.

Instructional Design

For the treatment report, I utilized the Analyzing planning stages of the MRK model to find out the learner characteristics, create a task analysis and provided instructional objectives for the eLearning product (Morrison et.al., 2013). The treatment report is part of the Design stage of ADDIE where I was creating a detailed plan of the content that would be provided within the product and determining proper instructional strategies (Allen, 2006). This allowed me to design content structures to classify information into three modules within the product (Morrison et al., 2013).

Related Performance Indicators

AECT Standard 2: Candidates develop as reflective practitioners able to demonstrate effective implementation of educational technologies and processes based on contemporary content and pedagogy (Association for Educational Communications and Technology, 2012).

Indicators:

  • Creating – Candidates apply content pedagogy to create appropriate applications of processes and technologies to improve learning and performance outcomes.
  • Using – Candidates implement appropriate educational technologies and processes based on appropriate content pedagogy.
  •  Assessing/Evaluating – Candidates demonstrate an inquiry process that assesses the adequacy of learning and evaluates the instruction and implementation of educational technologies and processes grounded in reflective practice.
  • Managing – Candidates manage appropriate technological processes and resources to provide supportive learning communities, create flexible and diverse learning environments, and develop and demonstrate appropriate content pedagogy.
  • Ethics – Candidates design and select media, technology, and processes that emphasize the diversity of our society as a multicultural community.

Reflection

Having made this Treatment Report late in my master’s program, I was able to reflect just how far I have grown in my experience and knowledge of what a Treatment Report is. This Treatment Report made me utilize my knowledge and experience of styles guides and storyboards to make an effective eLearning product. I had no problem creating these and were confident in my skills, which in past classes was not the case.  My skills as a writer have also improved throughout my reports and I manage to utilize only essential information and citations to back my statements. My experience with Treatment Reports continues to grow as does my writing. The Treatment Report is where I am to take the task analysis and create a story board with cognitive load and content sequencing to create an effective learning product. At this point, I have had many experiences of creating storyboards, but this one was new since I did not know how Adobe Captivate worked. Due to this, I had to make some changes in the eLearning product to better suit learners. Limitations such as only one assessment item per slide and limitations of where images and text can be, altered the layout of the product from the storyboard. After a Formative Evaluation was conducted, the SME also advised to add more images throughout for better comprehension. In the future, I will make sure to investigate the software the product will be designed on for a more accurate and better representation of the product within the storyboard.

Final Report Video

Context & Conditions

The following video on my Final Report Video about my internship experience was created for EDET 650: Internship in Educational Tech. This class was completed in my first semester of my second year in the Learning Design and Technologies master’s program.

The final report for this class involved creating a video narration on my internship experience with Berkeley County School District. The video included audio narrations and reflections of each deliverable I designed and developed along with images and screen recordings edited into the video. The video was then posted on YouTube. This video was developed for my instructor to assess my video editing skills, narration skills, and to listen about my overall reflection of my internship. My reflection focused on time management of the deliverables, my working relationship with my mentors, what I learned from the internship and new skills I required.

Scope

The purpose of this reflective final report video was to grow my knowledge and experience on developing a multimedia-based product with clear narration. The purpose was to have backgrounds within the video that correlate to what is being narrated and reflected about.

Role

The final report narration video was designed, developed, and edited independently by me. No SME was utilized but my instructor did provide relevant feedback for improvement.

Instructional Design

When developing this video, I was utilizing the Content Sequencing stage of the MRK model (Morrison et al., 2006). I made sure to not overwhelm what was on the slides of the video and only include information of importance. AS for the ADDIE model, I have aspects of the Analyze stage as I am reflecting on the deliverables I created during my internship (Allen, 2006).

Reflection

When reflecting upon my internship experience, I was to create a video showcasing the deliverables I created and reflect on the overall experience of the internship. Due to there being an abundance of deliverables to reflect on, I had to quickly show the deliverables on the screen which made it seem rushed. I tried my best to time up what I was reflecting on to what was being presented on the screen, but a little struggle as this was one of my first times editing a video and voiceover. Looking back now, I should have done a voice over in real time with the visual on the screen. This would allow for a better representation and for better quality of work. By only doing a voiceover and making the images/ screen recordings match on the screen, it does not look as professional.

When reflecting on this video, I made sure to only mention aspects of importance and remain on track. I made sure to explain what the deliverable was, why it was essential for my internship and how I learned from creating it. This allowed me to provide an impactful and meaningful reflection on my experience and work.
